Lake Orion, Michigan lies tucked away in Oakland County, a suburb of the vibrant city of Detroit. As a member of the prestigious Automation Alley, Oakland County serves as the economic powerhouse of Southeastern MI and is among America’s most affluent counties.

In 1828, a power dam connected numerous smaller lakes to form the one-mile lake now known as Lake Orion. These include Davenport University in Oxford and Oakland University and Rochester College in Rochester Hills. Baker College, Central Michigan University and Oakland University are in Auburn Hills, home of the U.S. headquarters of Daimler Chrysler and the Walter P. Chrysler Museum.

Recreation abounds around the shimmering Lake Orion. Boating, fishing, swimming and numerous other water-based activities are among the options on the lake. Great Lakes Crossing is a local super-mall with excellent shopping opportunities. Lake Orion is also home to an art center, the Olde World Canterbury Village and the scenic Paint Creek Trailway. The Trailway connects and provides recreation for several of Detroit’s suburban communities. Additional popular destinations in the general vicinity of Lake Orion include the Chrysler Technical Center, Jeepers! Amusement Park, The Palace of Auburn Hills, the Pontiac Silverdome and several sports arenas where teams such as the Detroit Pistons play.
